Postcard 1945 – Liberation, tank in the streets, historical, World War II
Original historical postcard from May 1945, issued by the Union of Friends of the USSR in Czechoslovakia. The front of the postcard depicts the ceremonial passage of an allied American army tank through the streets of a Czech city during its liberation at the end of World War II. The tank is surrounded by crowds of civilians who welcome the soldiers right in the city center, in the background are historical houses and squares damaged by the war. On the back is the inscription MAY 1945. Our defenders of peace. The postcard is unstamped and without a description of the addressee, yellowish, with clear signs of age and period authenticity. A great collector's item for lovers of military history, World War II and period monuments.
