Postcard Okoř Castle – ruins, colored, Czech Republic
The postcard depicts the picturesque scenery of the ruins of Okoř Castle, one of the most famous Gothic castles in the Czech Republic. The castle was founded in the mid-14th century around an older early Gothic chapel and rebuilt in the late Renaissance at the end of the 15th century. The castle has been abandoned since 1773 and is gradually falling into disrepair. The place played an important role as a meeting place for pioneers of the labor movement, and the area around the castle was home to students of the Mařák landscape school. The postcard depicts the ruins of the castle set in picturesque nature, with houses and trees in autumn colors visible in the foreground. A brief description in several languages is on the back.
