Postcard IX. All-Sokol Festival Prague 1932, original, cancelled

Original historical postcard from the 9th All-Sokol Gathering in Prague in 1932. The postcard was issued by the Czechoslovak Municipality of Sokol on the occasion of this important sports and cultural holiday, which commemorated the 100th birthday of Dr. Miroslav Tyrš with the participation of the Slavic Sokol Association. The illustration, based on the original by the academic painter Baruch, depicts a falcon with a wreath and flowers, with a sunrise and a stylized Czech landscape in the background. On the back there is a handwritten dedication and a postage stamp dated 25.VI.1932, postmarked Prague. The postcard bears signs of age and wear (see photo), but is complete and everything is clearly legible. A beautiful collector's item for lovers of Czech history, Sokolism and postcards with the theme of interwar Czechoslovakia.
