Gruss aus Saaz – postcard Žatec, monument to Emperor Joseph II, Austria-Hungary

An old postcard with the inscription Gruss aus Saaz (Greetings from Saaz) depicts the monument to Emperor Joseph II and the town school in the then town of Saaz, today Žatec. On the front side there is a richly illustrated lithograph with a motif of the town, on the left side there is a monument with the figure of Emperor Joseph II, in the background the school and other town buildings. Below is a handwritten message in German. The back side serves as a standard correspondence card with an Austro-Hungarian postage stamp worth 5 hellers with a clearly legible address and stamp. The condition corresponds to the age of the postcard - slightly worn corners and minor signs of age. An attractive historical collector's item from the Austro-Hungarian period, ideal for a collection of postcards with the theme of Czech towns or Saaz.
