New Venice – old postcard, colored, circa 1st half of the 20th century
An old postcard of the town of Nové Benátky (today's Benátky nad Jizerou) from the first half of the 20th century. The colored lithographic postcard depicts a quiet street leading to a dominant building on a hill, probably the local castle. On the left, you can see the city buildings, in the foreground a tall tree and a typical fence from that time. The back of the postcard is stamped and provided with a 50-haller stamp with a portrait of TG Masaryk, which further illustrates its period atmosphere. The postcard is described and provided with an address, so it is among the attractive correspondence pieces for collectors.
