Easter postcard Bosnia - Gabriël Jurkić, 1937, ethnography
Easter postcard from Bosnia titled LJUBLJENJE KRIŽA by painter Gabriel Jurkić. The postcard depicts the traditional Bosnian Easter custom of kissing the cross in the circle of family and local community. On the front side there is a color reproduction of the image, in the upper right corner there is the inscription Sretan Uskrs! (Happy Easter). The publisher is Naklada Hrvatskog kulturnog društva NAPREDAK, the postcard was published by Narodne Novine, Zagreb. A clear ethnographic depiction of traditional costumes and customs. On the back side there is a handwritten text, a Sarajevo postmark from 1937 and a Yugoslav stamp with a portrait. The format corresponds to the time of issue - probably the beginning of the 20th century. Nice collector's condition, an eye-catching collector's item with a personal atmosphere.
