Antique New Year's postcard children, gilded, Austria-Hungary, Šternberk

Original old postcard with a New Year's motif, depicting two children at a window - one with a Christmas tree and the other with a gift in hand. The postcard is richly decorated in gold with beautiful details typical of the early 20th century. The text on the front is in German: Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Jahreswechsel! , i.e. Hearty congratulations on the New Year! . The back contains a handwritten greeting, an Austro-Hungarian stamp worth 5 hellers and a clearly legible recipient's address in Šternberk. The postcard bears the usual signs of age - slight wear on the corners, patina and minor soiling. A very attractive collector's item with a beautiful New Year's theme and a period postage stamp. Small format until 1950.
