Commemorative postcard 1921 – Jan Jesenský of Jesení, Old Town Executions

An older commemorative postcard issued in 1921 for the 300th anniversary of the execution of the Czech lords on the Old Town Square in Prague. The postcard depicts Jan Jesenský of Jesení, a prominent physician and rector of Charles University, who was among those executed in June 1621. The image is black and white, graphically executed in a historicizing style. On the back is a text with biographical information and a reminder of his heroic death. Published by the magazine Čecha Řím in Prague-Karlín. A very interesting piece for collectors of postcards with historical themes or personalities of Czech history.
