Christmas postcard – Throwing a slipper, ethnographic motif, Czech Republic
An old painted postcard titled Throwing a Slipper depicts a traditional Czech Christmas custom. The postcard was painted by Josef Lada (as evident from the signature style), the edition comes from the collection Czech Christmas Customs. In the picture you can see women in folk costumes celebrating Christmas at home and trying their luck by throwing a slipper. The painting is very detailed, capturing the decoration of a Czech cottage and the atmosphere of a festive evening. The postcard was sent in 1982, it is stamped with the anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, the back side contains a handwritten wish. This is a beautiful collector's item suitable for lovers of traditions and history.
