Vlašim – castle gate, old postcard, used by post

Original old postcard with the motif of Vlašim Castle, specifically the romantic castle gate. The postcard dates from the Czechoslovakian period, is postmarked and has a stamp and handwritten text. The back contains a description of the gate: Vlašim – castle gate. A romantic park was established in the 19th century at the Vlašim Castle, built in the 17th and 18th centuries on the site of the original medieval castle, in the arrangement of which the romantic predilection for exotic and historicizing motifs was applied. The castle gate was also created at that time, imitating medieval castle architecture in neo-Gothic forms. Photo by K. Vomáček.
